At The Professional Builder (TPB), we coach elite residential builders and general contractors to build more profitable, scalable businesses. We’ve been doing this since 2004, and our members operate across NZ, Australia, the USA, Canada, and the UK.

 

We’re now looking for a Business Performance Coach to lead a cohort of builders and drive real results.

 

The Opportunity

 

As a Performance Coach at TPB, you’ll be responsible for a cohort of 60–80 construction businesses.

 

Your role is simple in principle, but demanding in practice:

 

● Help builders make more profit

● Help them reclaim their time

● Hold them accountable to execution

 

We operate like a high-performance sports team, not a family.

Clear standards. Clear numbers. Clear ownership.

 

What You’ll Be Accountable For

 

Success in this role is measured clearly:

● Churn under 4%

● Cohort engagement above 80%

● Improved financial performance (profit, cash flow, pricing discipline)

● Strong renewals (80% booked, 50% closed)

● Identifying and preparing builders for Boardroom Mastermind

● Relentless accountability. If a builder is stuck, you own the problem and the solution.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

● Running 1:1 coaching calls and monthly performance reviews

● Tracking key business metrics (profitability, cash flow, pipeline, pricing)

● Driving engagement, action, and implementation

● Helping builders fix bottlenecks across cash flow, sales, team, and operations

● Capturing and sharing member wins

● Delivering group training, workshops, and Boardroom sessions

● Working closely with the Member Success team to prevent churn

 

This is not “nice conversations”.

This is coaching for outcomes.

 

Who This Role Is For

 

This role suits someone who:

 

● Has coached, led, or run businesses before

● Understands numbers, not just motivation

● Can challenge business owners while keeping strong rapport

● Enjoys responsibility and ownership

 

You may come from:

 

● Business or performance coaching

● Construction or trade leadership

● Financial, operational, or GM-level roles

● High-performance sport or fitness coaching

 

You don’t need to have done everything before, but you must be coachable, accountable, and hungry to be elite at this craft.

 

If you’re looking for a low-pressure, conversation-only coaching role, this won’t be the right fit.
